Re: Laparoscopic-Assisted Vaginal Myomectomy: A Case Report and Literature Review
I read with great interest Herbert A. Goldfarb and Nicole J. Fanarijan’s article (Laparoscopic-assisted vaginal myomectomy: a case report and literature review. JSLS. 2001;5:81-85). The aim of this article was to present a new minimally invasive technique, laparoscopic-assisted vaginal myomectomy (LAVM), used for removing multiple transmural uterine myomas and faciliting uterine suturing. First...
متن کاملDisseminated Intravascular Coagulation after Myomectomy: A Case Report and Review of Literature
Hematological complications can complicate the postoperative period following myomectomy. Clinicians should keep such rarer possibilities in mind which will help them identify the complications correctly and manage appropriately. We managed a case of disseminated intravascular coagulation following myomectomy which was promptly diagnosed and managed.

The purpose of this article is to present a case of laparoscopic myomectomy (LM) that led to the identification of a new minimally invasive technique [laparoscopic-assisted vaginal myomectomy (LAVM)] for removing multiple transmural uterine myomas and facilitating uterine suturing. In addition, we reviewed the literature to (1) describe the history leading up to LAVM, (2) relate the benefits of...
متن کاملSuccessful Myomectomy During Pregnancy: A Case Report
Background The medical literature has reported an increase in myomectomy during caesarean section in the past decade. However, myomectomy performed during pregnancy remains a rarity. The management of uterine fibroids during pregnancy is usually expectant and surgical removal is generally delayed until after delivery. We present a case of a large, symptomatic uterine fibroid diagnosed during pr...
متن کاملEffect of Myomectomy on Endometrial Glutathione Peroxidase 3 (GPx3) and Glycodelin mRNA Expression at the Time of the Implantation Window
Background: In fertile women, glycodelin and glutathione peroxidase 3 (GPx3) genes expression rises during the luteal phase, with a peak occurring during the implantation window. The expression of these genes decreases in women with myomas. To determine whether myomectomy would reverse glycodelin and GPx3 expression, we evaluated the transcript levels of these genes in the endometrium of patien...
